My first introduction to yoga was in my late 20’s to Korean style yoga (Dahn Yoga), it is a blend of yoga, tai chi and martial art exercises. I was looking for an outlet to release stress and help me cope with my anxiety. Then in my early 30’s I was introduced to Bikram Yoga through my partner, it was a great opportunity for us to do an activity that we both enjoyed together.

My passion to yoga began when I was pregnant with my daughter and joined a prenatal yoga class. I fell in love with the practice and have felt the benefits pretty much right away. I have learned to pay attention to how my body responds and feels through the practice of breath and movement, I have loved and appreciated the opportunity to connect to other mom’s and find an outlet to not only release my physical stressors but my emotional concerns of being a first time mom, I found a community. Through this experience I have grew to love and cherish the practice and I felt the need to share my knowledge with others , so I have continued my journey to become a certified yoga teacher after my daughter was born.

This practice has taken many forms as I have continued to study and enrich my knowledge in pre and post natal yoga, kids yoga, restorative, Mat Pilates, Mindfulness and Meditation. The most important part of my practice that I would like to offer my students is staying true to oneself, free of self judgment through the practice of presence, connectedness between breath and movement that will lead to personal growth.
OFF THE MAT
I am a dancer at heart, my journey started at a very young age and continues. My lifelong passion is dance, for the last five years I have resumed Ballet, contemporary, Modern dance and various styles to feel complete. I am married to a wonderful and crafty man “The Sandalman”, we have an amazing 14yrs old girl together and a fur girl Juno which is my bestie. My peaceful and favorite place to be is on the beach, listening to the ocean waves, soaking the sun and smelling the ocean’s salt water. Chocolate and cheese cake are my weakness but I am trying to balance it out with healthy protein and veggies. I have developed the love for running due to COVID, to keep my sanity and the pandemic taught me life is too short for regrets so eat well, travel and drink wine.

TESTIMONIALS
Thank you for the wonderful Slow Yoga and Pilates session today. I am finding that the combination of Pilates with yoga stretching is really helping me build up my core strength. In the past, I have found Pilates exercises were too challenging for me and I would end up straining my neck or back. However, your class has allowed me to gradually build up my core strength, and as a result my back feels much stronger. Your instructions are very clear, which makes it easy to follow the postures and sequences as well. I always finish your classes feeling relaxed and ready to face the day!
Thank you! Joanne

Hi Karmit,
I really enjoy your class.
I take other exercise classes online but this one is my favourite because I never feel rushed, you explain clearly how to position my body so as not to cause harm and at the end I fell stronger.
You are patient, explain the moves well and leave enough time for transition between poses
Thank You! Anubha
Karmit’s mindful course has taught me how to be more present and much less overwhelmed in the workplace. I feel like I have the tools to find clarity by noticing, which sounds simple but it isn’t. I learned how to listen with more empathy. I also loved the sharing that occurred over the 12 weeks of the course that forged a deeper bond between myself and my colleagues in the course. I highly recommend learning or bushing up on your mindfulness practice in this setting.

I initially thought I didn't have time to take the Mindfulness Ambassador Program, but realized that was the very reason I needed it! Karmit creates a welcoming, safe atmosphere where participants can participate as much or as little as they wish, which I really appreciated. The exercises were accessible and a perfect entry point into mindfulness practice, which I always found intimidating. I was grateful for the opportunity to connect to myself and the group every week and to slow down my over-active mind, even for just an hour! The practices will now always be available to me so I can take better care of myself and be more present and compassionate towards others.

Thank You! Shana
